Merry Thrifting: Decorating for Christmas at Goodwill

Blog written by Cheri P, an avid Goodwill shopper and area decorator who has an eye for sophisticated design on a dime.

My simple Christmas decorating goals this Season was to update the Christmas stockings from bright red and green with simple neutral tones to add a softer look to the Livingroom and add some bulbs to the “New to me” Christmas tree from Goodwill.

Last year, I scored a flocked Christmas tree from the New Philadelphia Goodwill location and added some inexpensive flair.

If you're like me, let's look at pictures and read less. It was a gradual process finding items and this year I was able to add another 50 bulbs with thrift store finds.

Instead of worrying about a tree topper, I prefer adding picks towards the top to add more height to the tree (the more the merrier).

Small platters from the Dollar Tree to serve as a few large ornaments.

My splurge items this year was a pair of oversized lanterns from Home Buys. They are Pottery Barn knock-offs. However, the oversized cones, decorative balls, and vase fillers are thrifted.
