Donate

At Goodwill there are many ways to donate. Your generous donations allow us to bring meaningful change to the environment, individuals, and our community.

Ways to Donate

1. Material Donations

Donate your ‘stuff’ including new and used clothing, housewares, and computers to one of more than 20 locations or attended donation centers throughout Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio. Find the Goodwill location closest to you.

We also offer a Mobile Donation Center that you can reserve for up to a week FREE. You can use it to donate large quantities of items. Perfect for decluttering, after a neighborhood sale or estate cleanout. Also great for employee donation drives.

We also work with our partners at ReSupply to offer low-cost, professional haul away and disassembly service. Schedule a donation pickup with ReSupply by clicking the “donation pickup” icon in the bottom right corner.

FAQ

  • What items can I donate?

Goodwill gladly accepts most items for donation. However, certain child safety or state laws prohibit Goodwill from accepting and/or selling certain products. Some items are too costly for Goodwill to handle or sell. For a comprehensive list of donations, we do and do not accept, reference our donation guide (PDF).

  • Can I donate my car?

Goodwill graciously accepts vehicle donations through our partnership with CARS. For more information on how to donate your vehicle to Goodwill, please call 866-699-5719.

  • Do you offer at-home donation pickups?

Yes! Goodwill has partnered with ReSupply to offer a fee-based home pickup service to donors. ReSupply employs licensed and insured drivers and promises donation pickups in 48 hours or less. The company will take all items the donor wishes to donate whether it is one item or an estate, regardless of staircases or disassembly.

Get a quote and schedule a pickup by calling 216-677-3485 or click here

  • Do I get a tax-deductible receipt for my donations?

IRS regulations require taxpayers to place a value on items donated. While Goodwill cannot assign a tax value for you, we recommend downloading IRS Publication 526 and IRS Publication 561 from the IRS Website and/or consulting a tax advisor.

  • Why should I donate to my local Goodwill?

Donations and shopping at Goodwill help generate the funds we need to offer job and life skills training to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Take a second to watch one of our Success Stories to see how your donations make an impact.

  • What happens to donations that don’t sell in the store?

If items are not sold, they are sent to our Canton Outlet Store where they are sold by the pound. What is not sold at our outlet is then recycled. In fact, we were able to divert more than 25 million pounds of material from local area landfills last year!

  • Do your stores accept donations?

Yes, all of our retail stores and Attended Donation Centers (ADC’s) accept donations during business hours through our donation drop-off centers. Simply drive up to the donation drop-off area and a Goodwill representative will assist you in unloading your donations! Find a location near you.

  • Is Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio a nonprofit organization?

Yes. Goodwill is a 501(c)(3) organization. Any ‘profits’ are reinvested back into its mission.
