Individuals and Community Partners Recognized at Goodwill’s Annual Breakfast

CANTON, OH – March 21, 2019 – Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. (Goodwill) honored Daniel Baltzly, Alexzandria Nelson and Sydnie Kitson for outstanding accomplishments in overcoming barriers to employment at a breakfast event held this morning at the Kent State University at Stark’s Conference Center. Amani Abraham, a Reporter at WKYC, gave the keynote address to the crowd. The annual event allows Goodwill to report back to the community what their donations and support enabled the organization to do in 2018.

“I appreciate the importance of this event because it allows us to share the successes of our organization with the community but also to celebrate the participants and partners who are truly something to be proud of,” said Anne Richards, President and CEO of Goodwill. During the program, Richards shared that in 2018, more than 580,000 community members donated to Goodwill, which in turn helped impact 14,518 local lives and saved more than 12 million pounds of materials from landfills.

Employer of the Year award recipient Altercare Integrated Health Services was honored for committing to hire people with disabilities and for providing vocational services to Goodwill participants and through the Goodwill Summer Youth Employment program. Mary Moriarty, recently retired Vice President of Retail Operations was presented with the Ken Weber Servant Leadership employee recognition award for her passion and dedication to Goodwill over the years.

Aultman Hospital was honored as the 2018 Collaborative Partner of the Year. Aultman has been a consistent supporter for Goodwill throughout its history by providing employment opportunities, financial support and most recently a partnership to serve the needs of sexual assault survivors with Goodwill’s COMPASS Program and Aultman’s Serenity Program.
