Material Giving
Every Success Stories begins with a donation.
Goodwill stores sell your material donations and use revenue from the sale of those items to help fund programs that help thousands of people in our local community.
Your material donations support job training for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment, hot meal programs, rape crisis services and much more.
Tips for Donating
It’s pretty simple … we take almost anything!
There are just a few things that your Goodwill cannot accept as a material donation, mostly because of regulations or processing costs.
Things we cannot accept: Tube TVs/Monitors, Mattresses/Sleep Sofas, Drop-side Cribs, Hazardous Materials & Fuel, Large Appliances, Pianos/Organs
Computers & Electronics
Donating your computers and other tech equipment to Goodwill is safe and environmentally friendly. The ideal computer donation to Goodwill is an Intel Core 2 processor or better. Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. takes the safety of our donors very seriously. We understand that data confidentiality is extremely important to donors. All hard drives received by Goodwill are wiped in accordance with the standards described in the NIST Special Publication 800-88 (PDF) which requires a minimum of one pass on a hard drive. If the drive is not able to be overwritten due to a problem with the drive (damaged sectors, damaged hardware, etc.), the drive is physically altered so that it cannot be read. If you have a question about donating computer equipment to Goodwill, please email donations@goodwillgoodskills.org, and a customer service representative will follow up with you.
To help address the rising challenges around e-waste, Dell Technologies and Goodwill®, have partnered up to offer Dell Reconnect. This partnership provides consumers with a free and convenient way to recycle their used tech while helping people in our communities receive skills training and job opportunities. In addition, it supports the circular economy by recovering materials from used electronics to make new technology through Dell’s open-loop process. For more information visit the Dell Reconnect website here.
Vehicles
