Goodwill to Open Goodwill Outlet Store in Cleveland

CANTON, OH – July 15, 2019 – Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. (“Goodwill”) will be opening a Goodwill Outlet Store on the corner of East 179th St. and St. Clair Ave. in Cleveland. The Grand Opening will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 9 a.m. after a ribbon cutting ceremony with Councilman Anthony Hairston and Goodwill Officials.

Goodwill Outlet Stores are stocked with merchandise (clothing, textiles, shoes, books, accessories and more) from traditional Goodwill Retail Stores in the area. The merchandise has gone through the five-week sales cycle – spending time at half price and at $1.00 – and have not been purchased. Rather than clothes hanging on racks and housewares placed on shelves at the outlet, all merchandise is placed in large, shallow bins and rolled onto the sales floor, getting refreshed as often as every hour. Shoppers who enjoy bargains, crafters and resellers will appreciate this opportunity to find quality merchandise at deep discounts.

Items are priced at $1.39/lb., books $.50 each and large items such as furniture and select showcase items are priced individually. Large scales are provided where shoppers can weigh their merchandise.

“Goodwill Outlet Stores represent a win-win for the community,” said Goodwill President and CEO Anne Richards. “Shoppers get another chance at merchandise, and every item that is sold in the Outlet Store is another item that is kept out of a landfill. You might call it the ultimate recycling program, with the added benefit of fueling job readiness and placement programs – something every Goodwill Store does,” she continued.

This is the second outlet store for Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio. The Cleveland location will be a strong compliment to the 11 other Cleveland area stores. The store is located at 17903 St. Clair Ave.
