Goodwill Appoints New Leadership

Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. (“Goodwill”) has appointed two new members to its Leadership Team. Kevin Akans has been named the Vice President of Donated Goods Retail and Marcie Finney has been named Chief Financial Officer.

“Marcie and Kevin each bring a new perspective, and both have previous experience with Goodwill,” said President and CEO Anne Richards. “We are thrilled to welcome both to the Goodwill family and look forward to the positive contributions they will bring to our mission of empowering individuals through the power of work.”

Akans joined Goodwill in August. Prior to starting his role here, he was with Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, most recently as the Director of Retail Distribution and Salvage Operations.

He brings more than 12 years of nonprofit experience with Goodwill, having worked in various capacities, including retail, supply chain, sustainability and continuous improvement. He also is a graduate of the Goodwill Industries International Senior Leadership Program.

Kevin expressed his enthusiasm for joining Goodwill, stating, “I am excited about joining such a storied organization with a rich history of serving the Greater Cleveland, East Central Ohio and Weirton, WV, communities through its multitude of mission programs.”

Finney started her position with Goodwill in October. She previously held a position on our Board of Directors and was the Executive Director at the Cleveland Cord Blood Center for nine years.

Finney is an experienced nonprofit leader with a proven track record in financial management, strategic leadership and corporate compliance within the nonprofit sector. She is adept at leading organizations, managing complex financial operations and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders. She holds an Executive MBA and has extensive experience in nonprofit financial management, strategic planning and board interactions.

“I’m excited to join Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio because the organization’s mission of empowering individuals and strengthening communities aligns with my passion for creating meaningful impact,” Finney said. “Goodwill’s commitment to helping people achieve independence through employment and skill-building resonates with my values, and I look forward to using my experience in financial management to further its mission and enhance its sustainability. I am honored to be part of a team that drives positive change and supports individuals in reaching their full potential.”
